Many friends have not come into contact with bar code label printers before, read the various articles on the Internet, or look at the flowers in the fog, do not know how to choose. Worried about the choice of label printer is not suitable for their own.

Today I will elaborate on how to choose a suitable label printer so that you will not make a mistake after reading this article. Bar code printer industry is called bar code printer, non-line called bar code machine, label printer, tag printer, labeling machine, coding machine and so on have a variety of names. Barcode printer printing methods generally have thermal and thermal transfer printing methods, the general printer supports two ways. The barcode printer uses dedicated labels and carbon tape. Barcode printing is a kind of printing equipment that can print a large number of stickers, tickets, tags, water washing cloth and so on. Barcode printers have been widely used in all aspects of production and life, such as: supermarkets, manufacturing, logistics, ticket printing and so on. Since the general label is continuous in the form of a roll, its printing speed is faster than that of a general printer, and it does not require manual continuous paper change, which is suitable for high-efficiency printing.

Choose bar code label printer generally from several aspects to consider:

1. Number of prints: If you need to print less than 1000 labels per day, it is recommended that you buy an ordinary desktop barcode printer. The desktop machine has a small paper capacity and carbon tape capacity, and the product has a small appearance, which is very suitable for office space. If you need to print more than 1000 labels a day, you need a rugged industrial-grade barcode printer with a metal housing. Industrial-grade printers have a long service life and can generally accommodate large paper rolls and large-length carbon ribbons. They also have excellent performance in harsh environments and are suitable for large factories.

The width of the label: the printing width refers to the maximum width range that the barcode printer can print. Large width can print small labels, but small width is certainly unable to print large labels. The longer the print width, the higher the price of the product. The general bar code printer has a printing range of 4 inches, that is, 10.4cm width, and a width of 5 inches, 6 inches and 8 inches. So if your label is less than 10cm wide, choose a 4-inch printer.

3. Printing quality of labels: The printing resolution of barcode machines is generally divided into 203dpi,300dpi and 600dpi. The larger the dpi value, the better the printing effect and the clearer the printing. The highest printing accuracy is 600dpi, while 203dpi or 300dpi can meet the daily needs of the industry. The higher the accuracy of the printer, the higher the price. Jewelry, mobile phones and PCB versions are required to be printed on smaller labels. It is recommended that you use bar code printers above 300DPI, while other general labels can use 200DPI.

4. Printing speed: Different styles of printers have different printing speeds. Generally, the printing speed of bar code printers is 2-6 inches per second, while printers with higher speed can print 8-12 inches per second. If a large number of labels need to be printed in a short time, high-speed printers are more suitable. The higher the speed, the higher the general industrial grade.

5. Software application environment Printers have their own machine language. At present, most bar code printers on the market can only use one printing language. For example, zebra is ZPL, Datamax is DPL, Intermec is IPL or FingerPrint, etc. They can only use their own printing commands. If you have used a brand of barcode printer before, and the printing method is to use machine language to print, then it is best to use the original brand model.

If the external environment is in a harsh production environment, such as high temperature, high humidity, and more dust, you must buy a high-grade barcode printer.

7, print interface barcode printer generally has parallel port, serial port, USB port and network port. But not all printers have these 4 interfaces, generally only 2-3. If your printing method is to print through a specified interface, then choose a printer with this interface.

8. Price The higher the industrial level, the more expensive the price, the wider the printing width, the higher the printing accuracy, and the more expensive the printers of the same industrial level. Imported models are a little more expensive than those made in China and Taiwan, but the quality is really better.

If the printing material is special, then choose the appropriate model according to the material, such as the label is very thick or the surface is very rough. In addition, in order to make the printer meet the requirements of users, various manufacturers have designed many optional accessories: cutters, strippers, paper holders, etc. However, not all models support these accessories. You can cut off labels automatically according to your own needs, so you need to buy models with cutters. Finally, try to choose the brand model with high market share. When choosing a supplier, you should also pay attention to choosing an experienced company with accumulated technology, rather than a company that moves bricks, because there will be problems in the use of barcode printers, and service is very important.
