Barcode scanner settings for best scanning results
Release Time:2017-09-16
Why is the scanning effect of the newly bought scanner not good, the quality of the scanner is not good, or where the scanner fails. Bar code scanner settings to achieve the best scanning results, improve work efficiency.

1. Determine the appropriate scanning method
Using a barcode scanner, you can scan images, text, and photos. Different scanned objects have different scanning methods. Opening the driver interface of the barcode scanner, we found that the program provides three scanning options, of which the "black and white" method is suitable for the original or OCR recognition of black and white paper. "Gray scale" is suitable for mixed layout of pictures and texts with both pictures and texts. Scanning this type takes into account both text and pictures with multiple gray levels. "Photo" is suitable for scanning color photos, it is to the red, green and blue three channels for multi-level sampling and storage. Before we scan, we must first select a suitable scanning method according to the scanned object, so as to obtain a higher scanning effect.
2. Optimize the resolution of barcode scanning gun
The higher the scanning resolution, the clearer the image, but considering that if the resolution of the output device is exceeded, no matter how clear the image is, it is impossible to print it. It just takes up more disk space and has no practical value. Therefore, it is necessary to select an appropriate scanning resolution. You can scale down large images after scanning. For example, if we scan a 4 × 4 inch image at 600dpi and reduce it to 2 × 2 inches in the composition program, its resolution is 1200dpi.
3. Set the size of the file
Whether the scanned object is text, image or photo, it is an image after being output by the barcode scanner, and the size of the image size is directly related to the size of the file capacity, so we should set the size of the file size when scanning. Usually, the barcode scanner can automatically calculate the file size when previewing the original manuscript, but knowing how to calculate the file size will help you make the appropriate choice when managing the scan file and determining the scan resolution. The calculation formula of the binary image file is: horizontal size×vertical size× [2 (scanning resolution)/8]. The calculation formula for a color image file is: horizontal size×vertical size× [2 (scan resolution)/3].
4. Set the scanning parameters
When the barcode scanner pre-scans the image, it scans according to the default scanning parameter values of the system. For different scanning objects and different scanning methods, the effect may be different. Therefore, in order to obtain higher image scanning quality, we can adjust the parameters manually. For example, when the brightness of gray scale and color images is too bright or too dark, we can change the brightness by dragging the slider on the brightness slider. If the brightness is too high, the image will look white; if the brightness is too low, it will be too black. You should moderate the brightness of the image when you drag the brightness slider. Similarly for other parameters, we can follow the same adjustment method to make local modifications until our visual effect is satisfactory. In short, a good scanned image should try not to use image processing software to make more adjustments, you can meet the print output, and the closest to the print quality.
5. Store the curve and load the scanning software
Sometimes, in order to get the best color and scan contrast, we first do a low-resolution scan, open it in the Photoshop, and use the Photoshop curve function to improve the color and contrast. Save the curve and load it back into the scanning software, and your barcode scanner will now use this color-corrected curve to create better high-resolution files. If you scan several images with a similar gamut range, you can use the same curves, and you can also store the curves as often as possible and load them back as needed.
6. Place the scanning object according to the required effect
In the actual use of the image process, we sometimes hope to be able to obtain the tilt effect of the image, we have a lot of designers are often through the bar code scanner to the image input to the computer, and then use professional image software to rotate, in order to make the image to achieve the rotation effect, as everyone knows, this process is a waste of time, according to the rotation angle size, the quality of the image will decline. If we know in advance how the image is placed on the page, then using the protractor and the bottom edge of the original to place the original on the roller and platform at a precise angle will get the highest quality image without having to rotate it in the image processing software.
7. Find the best scanning area on the glass plate
In order to obtain the best image scanning quality, we can find the best scanning area of the barcode scanner, and then place the object to be scanned here to obtain the best and most fidelity image effect. The specific search steps are as follows: first, set all controls of the barcode scanner to automatic or default state, select all areas, and then scan a blank, white or opaque sample with low resolution; Then use professional image processing software Photoshop to open the sample, and use the averaging command (Equalize menu item) in the software to process the sample, after processing, we can see where there are cracks, stripes and black spots on the barcode scanner. We can print this file and cut out the best areas (that is, the most stable areas) to help us place the image.
